9/11 Truth Outreach at Peace and Planet

A Mobilization for a Nuclear-Free, Truthful, Peaceful, Just and Sustainable World

Written by 9/11 Truth Outreach Staff

Outreach about 9/11 Truth can be brought into campaigns and events organized by others. 9/11 Truth Outreach attended the Peace and Planet March and Rally which was a mobilization for a nuclear-free, just and sustainable world. To increase the receptivity of the 9/11 Truth message, care must go into the messages used.

2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the United States atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It also marks 45 years since the first five nuclear powers agreed in Article VI of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to undertake good faith negotiations for eliminating their nuclear arsenals.

Very few Americans realize that the numerous countries who have signed the nuclear non-proliferation agreed not to obtain nuclear weapons in exchange for those countries that did have nuclear weapons to negotiate their elimination.

On the day before the 2015 NPT Review Conference began at the United Nations, thousands gathered at Union Square in New York City for an international rally and march to the United Nations. Activists from around the world – including over a thousand from Japan with Hibakusha among them (survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) – gathered to make demands for a nuclear free, peaceful, just and sustainable world.

The call for the march included, "Recognizing the interconnected human and moral imperatives of abolishing nuclear weapons, ending and preventing wars, ensuring economic and social justice, achieving racial equality and the demilitarization of police, and addressing climate change and environmental degradation. We are committed to exploring linkages in order to build broader, more issue-integrated movements for the long term."

To this message, 9/11 Truth Outreach added a call for openness, transparency and accountability by bringing attention to evidence of controlled demolition of the Twin Towers and Building 7 on 9/11. This was done by asking the question on our march banner, "Would you trust nuclear weapons to a government that says this is a gravity-only collapse?"

Wayne Coste, one of the volunteers said, "Our 9/11 Truth message was well received. Many other participants at the march and rally thanked us for adding a pertinent question to the event. Most said that they would not trust nuclear weapons to any government. They all agreed emphatically that they would not entrust nuclear weapons to a government that said the destruction of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers was a gravity-only collapse. Some made a point to say that none of the governments controlling nuclear weapons have officially denounced the explanation that the three skyscrapers were gravity-only collapses – and therefore they, too, cannot be trusted.

At the end of the march, a festival was held near the United Nations complex at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. The 9/11 Truth Outreach banner remained visible until the end. Numerous festival attendees, including may well know activists, could see the message and many photographs were taken. As always, whenever doing outreach in New York City dozens of police officers and their commanders could see the reminder of their brethren who died in an explosive demolition —not a gravity only collapse.

Background

The countries that have signed the nuclear NPT and have nuclear weapons are (with the year of acquisition in parenthesis): the United States (1945), Russia (1949), United Kingdom (1952), France (1960) and China (1964). North Korea (2003) withdrew from the NPT in 2003. Countries that have not signed the nuclear NPT but have acknowledged nuclear weapons are India (1974) and Pakistan (1998). Israel has not signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and has not acknowledged their nuclear arsenal.

In December 2014, the UN General Assembly voted 165 to 4 on Paragraph 9, which stressed the fundamental role of the NPT in achieving nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. It urged India, Israel and Pakistan to accede promptly and without conditions to be non-nuclear weapon states, and to place all their nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. One of the outcomes of this 2015 NPT Review may be that UN General Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will convene a regional conference, as called for by the 2010 NPT Review Conference, on banning Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) from the Middle East with or without Israel's participation.

Summary

All countries must account for their nuclear arsenals. Furthermore, 9/11 Truth Outreach's message underscores another critical reason why these governments should not possess nuclear weapons: If none of them can publically distinguish between the gravity-only destruction of the three skyscrapers at the World Trade Center on 9/11 and their explosive demolition then how can we possibly trust their integrity to responsibly control a nuclear arsenal? Adherence to Article VI of the NPT by those with nuclear weapons is a necessary step for a peaceful world and the survival of the planet as we know it. 9/11 Truth Outreach was fortunate to participate in this event and encourages others to undertake similar actions.
