The 9/11 Truth Action Project (911TAP) is an action-focused 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed by the merger of the local action groups of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth) into an existing 501(c)(3) corporation, Truth Outreach, Inc., (formerly 911TruthOutreach.org and now 911TAP.org) headed by a former member of the AE911Truth Board of Directors.
Why A New 9/11 Truth Organization?
AE911Truth has done phenomenal work in establishing the case for controlled demolition of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers on 9/11. By restricting its focus to the three skyscrapers, and only to evidence and arguments that are technically sound, AE911Truth has spearheaded a 9/11 Truth narrative that is acceptable to both the technical professional community and the public at large. In the context of low overall public support for the 9/11 Truth movement, continuing corporate media attacks, and the presence of fringe, non-scientific theories that confuse people and blacken our reputation, AE911Truth has given us a solid foundation to make our stand. It is perhaps not an overstatement to say that AE911Truth has saved the 9/11 Truth movement.
Yet for all of the great work and accomplishments of AE911Truth, it was never intended to be the organization to drive the change necessary to achieve justice through a new, independent 9/11 investigation.
AE911Truth mission statement:
"Research, compile, and disseminate scientific information about the destruction of all 3 World Trade Center skyscrapers"
The expectation was that AE911Truth would make the unambiguous technical case for controlled demolition, and then another group, or groups, would carry out the rest of the work. Nearly a decade after the founding of AE911Truth, this, unfortunately, has not happened. During this decade, AE911Truth operated a national network of local action groups whose mandate was to disseminate the AE911Truth evidence into the general public. Progress by these groups was slow and steady in chipping away at the official story among many in the general public. However, the groups have recently been allowed to languish, as AE911Truth focused greater effort and resources on the architectural and engineering professional communities.
Within the past year, the AE911Truth leadership began looking for a way to separate the local action groups from the organization, as they could not justify the growing manpower costs needed to support and monitor the expanding group activities. At the same time, the action groups were looking for greater freedom to communicate the AE911Truth evidence within the context of the historical deep state and the consequences of 9/11 regarding the destructive "war on terror." The separation was mutually agreed upon and amicable.
The 911TAP Mission and Top-Level Goal
The 911TAP mission statement, as recently adopted by the 911TAP Board of Directors, is as follows:
"The mission of the 9/11 Truth Action Project is to build and mobilize a global grassroots movement that will expose the truths of 9/11 and create a groundswell of civic support that achieves transparency and accountability for the crimes of 9/11, justice for its victims, an end to unwarranted U.S. military actions, and the restoration of our civil liberties."
One of the key distinctions between this mission statement and the AE911Truth statement is the explicit focus here on building a "grassroots movement" sufficient to achieve a "groundswell of civic support" necessary for a meaningful positive outcome. This mission is not just to educate the public about the realities of 9/11, but to turn that education into action that will establish a better "new world order" based on accountability, justice, peace, and liberty.
The 911TAP top-level goal that was derived from the mission statement respects the legal and peaceful political process favored by the U.S. public:
"Achieve an independent, comprehensive Congressional investigation, satisfying all standards specified by the 9/11 Truth Action Project, leading to transparency and accountability for the crimes of September 11, 2001, justice for its victims, an end to unwarranted U.S. military actions, and full restoration of our civil liberties."
To achieve this goal, the intentions of 911TAP are further divided across the following five objectives:
- Unify the 9/11 Truth Movement behind a single, massive effort focused on the 911TAP Goal.
- Overcome the general public's ignorance and apathy regarding 9/11 and 9/11 Truth.
- Overcome the Mainstream News Media's opposition to the 9/11 Truth Movement.
- Overcome U.S. Government attacks on the 9/11 Truth Movement.
- Overcome barriers to achieving a Truth-friendly majority in the U.S. Congress.
In the interest of keeping this article at a reasonable length, the current plan for work on the first two of these objectives is outlined next. More details on the other three objectives will be addressed in future
articles. The text for all five objectives of the Strategic Plan can be read by selecting the following link: Strategic Plan for the 9/11 Truth Action Project
On Unifying the 9/11 Truth Movement for Effective Action
The decision to move the public outreach teams from AE911Truth into 911TAP is an important step forward for the 9/11 Truth movement. In 911TAP, we now have the first major organization dedicated to the challenge of converting the technical accomplishments of AE911Truth into something as ambitious and concrete as the 911TAP top-level goal. But it takes a big goal to attract a big crowd, and then to motivate the big crowd into big effort. 911TAP has chosen to go big for good reason, and is committed to seeing the work through to its completion.
These are all fine-sounding words, but what will they actually mean in practice? How is the 9/11 Truth movement going to be unified? What does this "big effort" look like? Well, the effort looks like a petition drive. It does not, however, look, in key respects, like the petition drives already underway in the 9/11 Truth movement (or those run in the past). A fundamental difference between the 911TAP Petition Project and the website-based petitions of AE911Truth and ReThink911, for example, is the greater focus here on grassroots-based petition collection and grassroots-based support for the website-based collection.
Just to be clear, this petition project is not about us politely asking the U.S. Government to investigate itself. It is instead part of the approach we will use for replacing the current U.S. Congress with a Truth-friendly Congress, in keeping with our top-level goal. More details on the petition and its text, including its protection against any new attempts at flawed, whitewash investigations, will be provided in upcoming articles. (The "we" referred to above includes future affiliated 501(c)(4) organizations that will implement the political action portion of the 9/11 TAP Strategic Plan.)
The 911TAP Petition Project is intended to be a catalyst for lifting the 9/11 Truth movement out of its current state of decentralized individual actions into a focused, unified movement. Surveys consistently show that, thanks to the work of 9/11 activists since 2001, tens of millions of U.S. citizens already know the truth about 9/11. One of our challenges in converting this awareness into change is the isolation and discouragement of people in the 9/11 Truth movement. In this context, it is not likely that large-scale public demonstrations can be arranged anytime soon. In the short term, what is needed is an approach that brings people together through small-scale actions to demonstrate accumulating power that fit into busy schedules. The 911TAP Petition Project is the vehicle for doing this.
The count of signed petitions gathered under this effort will be prominently displayed on the 911TAP website. A rapidly increasing number would serve as a motivational boost to the 9/11 Truth movement, increasing our confidence and encouraging people to work harder. At the same time, new people visiting the site would be more inclined to look at the evidence for the first time as the high petition count increases our credibility. Likewise, people sitting on the fence would be more inclined to jump over to our side as they begin to see that the stigma of openly questioning the official story is eliminated, and they begin to believe that we might actually win.
Within 911TAP itself, the petition project will be a key part of our approach for building out the network of local action teams across the country. An individual with paper petition forms in hand has all they need to recruit the second member of their team, and then to expand upward from there. Existing teams can extend their repertoire of outreach activities, as well as incorporate petition gathering into their existing activities. As a quantitative measure, petition count will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of public outreach and member recruitment tactics. Friendly competitions between local groups, based on petition count, will inject fun into working environments and motivate high levels of effort
On Overcoming Public Ignorance and Apathy
In every geographic region of the U.S., there are certain segments of the population where 9/11 Truth awareness is relatively high, and where many people who are not aware are interested in becoming aware. These segments will be receiving a lot of early attention as outreach efforts are ramped up nationwide. By focusing first on these most receptive audiences, the early rate of petition sign-ups would be maximized, as would the rate of new team member recruitment. The hope, and expectation, is that sustained and focused efforts within some of these sub-populations will reach critical mass, where 9/11 awareness becomes so prominent that it goes viral and reaches the bulk of these populations through peer-to-peer communication without our direct involvement. The target groups here include college and university students, specific neighborhoods within cities, and some small towns. People working in allied causes (e.g., anti-war and liberty groups) will likewise receive early attention.
Of course, there are segments of the U.S. population where 9/11 Truth awareness is low and where people have no interest in talking to "conspiracy theorists." These are the same types of people who bemoaned the 1960s "anti-war demonstrators" during the early stages of the Viet Nam War protests. Many of these people eventually came to end their support for the war as well. They did so less because of convincing arguments from the anti-war movement than from a growing realization that the Viet Nam War was an unwinnable war, and perhaps even an immoral war.
While the mainstream news media maintains its hostile stance against the 9/11 Truth movement, public education and recruitment among receptive audiences will focus on the 911TAP website, independent news media, social media, and direct, one-on-one outreach where people naturally gather. The Internet and other social media will be used to teach the 9/11 evidence, motivate action, and direct people to the 911TAP website for more. Brochures, flyers, and face-to-face conversations will be used to achieve the same. Local events will also reach people using local media that is often independent of mainstream media control. As parallel efforts prevail to support the rise of alternative, independent media to greater prominence, more and more public education of 9/11 will be achieved by this media.
Converting widespread 9/11 Truth awareness among U.S. citizens into a concerted quest for 9/11 Justice will be an essential focus of 911TAP. The 911TAP education program will extend beyond the 9/11 evidence into topics that explain the historical context of 9/11 and the damaging consequences of 9/11 through its associated "War on Terror." 9/11 Truth is a compelling place to work because of two distinguishing properties of the government lies: (a) their recognized obviousness and (b) their dire consequences that approach the Orwellian nightmare of perpetual war and lost liberty that most Americans find deeply disturbing. 9/11 Truth thus offers a plausible catalyst for generating a muchneeded national "reset," that could drive fundamental reform and rule of law into the U.S. Government.
Many people who are today misinformed by U.S. Government and mainstream media teachings are unlikely to consider the convincing arguments of 9/11 truthers without some external push. For some people, a growing realization that the War on Terror is an unwinnable war, and perhaps even an immoral war, could provide that push. For others, the War on Terror's evisceration of the U.S. Constitution could do it. For yet others, the persistent public struggle for justice by 9/11 victim family members may be what it takes. In the context of catalysts such as these, it is vital that the 9/11 Truth movement establish and maintain a highly-visible public presence that ultimately directs these people to the 911TAP website where they can receive an effective welcome into the movement.
Conclusions and How You Can Help
The 9/11 Truth movement has reached a crossroads. We must decide whether we are satisfied to remain a "hobby movement" and achieve little, or nothing, in the way of concrete 9/11 accountability and justice, or if we want to try to change the course of history. We now, for the first time, have the structures in place to accomplish great things. The unimpeachable 9/11 evidence compiled by AE911Truth is easily explained and readily accepted by the U.S. public. The network of 911TAP action teams already in place have the experience and expertise necessary to lead a grassroots public education and publicity campaign. The allied Lawyers' Committee for 9/11 Inquiry provides the legal foundation necessary to navigate the U.S. judicial system. The surprisingly successful presidential campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, combined with increasing support for third party candidates, indicates a growing public disregard for instructions being handed down by the U.S. Government and mainstream news media. (Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, has called for a new 9/11 investigation in one of her position statements.)
As a member of the 9/11 Truth movement, you have the same choice to make for your personal life as the movement does as a whole. Is 9/11 Truth a hobby for you, or do you want to try to win? Are you already actively teaching 9/11 truth to strangers and recruiting them into your network? If not, do you know the 9/11 evidence well enough to effectively teach it to others? Can you teach it to one new person per month and bring them into the 911TAP network? One person per week? More? If you feel that you don't know the evidence well enough, would you like to learn it better? Would you like to learn effective ways to teach the evidence? Is there a local action team in your area that you can join? If not, do you want to start one? Do you want to connect with other action teams across the country? Do you want to join a task force working on a specific topic? Where your answer to these questions is "yes," the 911TAP website provides a portal into action. If you don't see where to go right now (information will be added over time), just send an email to info@911TAP.org and you will receive help on getting started.
