It has come to our attention that unauthorized fundraising 'initiatives' are being promoted whose claimed beneficiaries are intended to be organizations such as 9/11 Truth Action Project and the Lawyers Committee for 9/11 Inquiry. Currently organizations such as these accept donations directly via their website which contain links to authorized fundraising initiatives.
For example, donations to 9/11 TAP can be made via their website or interested people can become supporters via a membership (legally 'members' have a non-voting status due to organizational structure).
Donations to Lawyers Committee for 9/11 Inquiry can be made via their website or they can participate in an authorized fundraising effort, such as the recent sales initiatives for tee shirts and hats.
All "authorized" fundraising initiatives for 9/11 organizations should be verified by postings and representations on their respective websites.
Local Truth Action Groups
Many autonomous 9/11 Truth Action Groups operate on an ad-hoc basis around the country with their efforts directed at the local level. In the event funds are raised locally to cover expenses associated with these local activities, the raising and disbursements of such funds are expected to be done openly and transparently using democratic processes.
The 9/11 Truth Action Project does not have any fiduciary oversight of the finances of these local groups.
9/11 Truth Action Project
The 9/11 Truth Action Project is the sole project of Truth Outreach Inc. which is a 501(c) 3 Educational, Not For Profit corporation, incorporated in the State of Connecticut. Additional information can be seen at Guidestar.org.
It had come to the attention of the TAP Board of Directors that some members may have been solicited regarding a business opportunity with a group called “PNL”. The solicitation, in some cases, has included oral claims that the venture is a fundraising opportunity for this, and/or other 9/11 focused organizations. TAP is not associated with PNL or any similar organization, in any way, and does not endorse, support or recommend it or any other business or investment proposition.
As with all solicitations for funds, or other commitments of time or resources, due diligence is advised. Caveat Emptor.
