Charles Ewing Smith was executive producer with Richard Gage, and co-editor of “9/11:Explosive Evidence – Experts Speak Out”, one of the most widely viewed 9/11 documentaries ever made. After re-visiting the complete interview footage of the psychologists who appear at the end of that film, Chuck was moved to make “The Demolition of Truth-Psychologists Examine 9/11” in order to share their powerful and compelling message. Chuck described the origins of this project on the September 2016 9/11 and other Deep State Crimes monthly teleconference.
Interview with Charles Ewing Smith
For me, it was on the morning of 9/11. I sat there like most of us with our jaws dropping. As a Hollywood sound effects guy I had an unusual take on it. Most people don’t quite understand this – that as a sound effects editor, my job is to take a motion picture and add sound effects to it. So when they give us a movie to add sound to, we don’t really have much sound to work with. Just the dialog. We generally operate out of our imagination. Looking at these visuals of the buildings coming down, I’m thinking; “What’s this impossibility?” “What could cause that thing go across the screen like that.” ”What sounds would I hear?” So, this was going through my mind. I had it figured out that it must be some kind of explosions, back then, on the day.
Then with all of the wars and everything it got put on my back-burner.
Then when the reports (NIST) came out and they looked at Building 7, they said that fires brought it down – and what they said about the towers. All of it just blew my mind. I started looking on the internet for others that were aghast and ran across Richard Gage’s video “Blueprint for Truth”. I watched that and I joined AE911Truth that day. I immediately started coming on the (AE911Truth) group phone calls. In the course of it I realized that as a guy that does editing, I had a skill set that could be used. I got involved with brainstorming the creation 9/11:Explosive Evidence-Experts Speak Out” and shepherding that into creation.
I had the raw footage of all the interviews used in “9/11: Explosive Evidence”. Time passed but I kept looking at them and often thought “there is more here.” The psychology section in “9/11:Explosive Evidence” proved to be really popular. It was also my idea to have psychologists in the film. I finally watched it enough that I thought there was enough material to make something of it. Something that nobody else was saying. So I started doing that in a rough way and I sent it off to the psychologists, who were in it, to see if they were ok with it – something that they could back – and they did. So it went on from there and I worked on it for, all told, close to about two years.
So I did it by myself – self financed. I followed it as a “found art” project – a situation where instead of starting with a draft and proceeding to put visuals in that exemplified that script, I had basically “found” visuals and words and I had to find a way to put it together in a way that made sense as a whole.
The psychologists were very provocative about how we could be fooled and what could be fooling us. This was kinda off topic as far as Architects and Engineers were concerned. It was beyond the interests of Architects and Engineers who were naturally interested more in information that pointed toward scientific discovery.
So I had all this material and I determined there was enough. I spoke with Richard Gage and he ok’d me using the AE owned footage in my project.
Fran Shure who lives in Colorado, one of the psychologists in the doc, put me in touch with Colorado Public Television, which had screened “9/11:Explosive Evidence” three or four years ago. Sheri Benson (PBS Producer) wanted to see it - she saw it – she loved it – they showed it [as part of a two hour program segment during a fundraising campaign] – and it’s been a big success for them and has brought in twice as much money for Colorado Public Television as “9/11:Explosive Evidence” did. They were pretty happy about it. They’re still showing their two hour program. You can see it on YouTube, PBS.org or on Colorado Public Television(CPT14). The two hour program is not the complete film. I had to cut it down. In order for them to show the complete film we would have needed to have a three hour program. They brought up the thought of a three hour program, but in the end, I had to cut 40 minutes out of it. Then, three weeks ago [September 2016], it was the opening film at the 9/11 Film Festival in Oakland with Ken Jenkins. It went over really well.
(ed note: The doc has since received Best Documentary Feature Film at the Manhattan Film Festival of New York)
So, where does it stand now? I have made a DVD and digital downloads. They are available at my page: https://www.911truth.us.
The DVD will be fulfilled through the AE911Truth online store.
I suppose I’ll end up pushing into the on-line places like Amazon, iTunes and that kind of stuff – wherever I can get it, as time moves on. Clearly we are not in any big hurry, I felt some urgency maybe ten years ago – or five years ago – but now it looks like were stuck with it for a while. I’m just getting it out. I’m a one man band on this and just trying to help. I had some material and so there it is. I’ve made something I think we need, and as luck would have it most people like it. With compliments to multiple generous folks, I’ve found a way to get it out.
The DVD and Digital versions are the uncut version. I think it’s a much better film experience than the free PBS version. https://www.911truth.us If you could spread the word and help me get the word out. That’s my goal now. I need to publicize it.
I feel comfortable with it. Enough people have seen it and responded really positively that I’m comfortable pushing it out there even though it’s not a theatrical quality film, probably. The message of the doc, however, is ‘better than theatrical quality.’
So that’s the pretty much the deal there. Do you have any questions? I don’t claim to have any answers, but I can take questions.
Question and Answers
[Moderator]: How much does the film sell for on Vimeo?
[Chuck Smith]: It sells to $10 and rents for $5. If you download the $10 version you can burn it on DVD, give it to others or show it at your local library.
[Dave] – I’m interested in being able to put it on cable access. Is there a 58 minute version or something like that?
[Chuck Smith]: Well there isn’t Dave. Maybe in about 6 months I’ll try to find a way to make it. It’s like pulling teeth to me, quite honestly to pull anything out of the documentary. I’ve gone over this for a year with the psychologists and we had gotten pretty tight. It is really tough for me and I ended up making arbitrary hacks at it for PBS. Ultimately as a filmmaker I want to try to make it as best as I can.
But, right now, the PBS version that we have is 3/5th [of the uncut version]. It’s widely available, it has over 12 thousand views (now 38,000) on YouTube and PBS.org will be showing it for a year. So it’s really available. As I remember from “9/11 Explosive Evidence” the community television stuff was never organized for outreach – there was some effort – but it didn’t really bring in the reward, balanced to the energy expended. So I’m not feeling any urgency that it’s a market that we are missing out on.
Yes, down-the road, I will try to make a version that is 60 minutes that is coherent. The problem for me, David, is that I didn’t write this in advance, it wrote itself. The film is based on the words that had already been said, by people that didn’t know that it would come together like this.
So, it’s an unusual situation for me. And it’s more difficult than it seems. I mean I could, yeah ... If you don’t mind watching Mickey Mouse with only one ear – that would be OK – but Walt Disney would cringe I’m sure. That may be a lousy example, but to me it works as a whole, it doesn’t work with any of the pieces missing.
I was amazed that people liked the version on PBS as much as they did because I didn’t think it was complete, but apparently, for me, a lot of information makes it complete, while for some people less information is satisfactory. It’s hard to figure that one out David.
[Johnathan]: My community television station will play it no matter what size it is. I just wanted to know that it could be played there at Greenfield Community College and other local stations in New England. I think people like it so much is because it answers the question why so many people avoid the topic. Now that the peace activists, now that they are aware of 9/11, aware of Building 7, they still don’t want to talk about it and this film kinda gives an explanation why. There was a recent article, “Why I don’t speak about 9/11 anymore,” it was excellent and gave the connections with anthrax and all the other control of the media and the basically mind control element. Your film is a great antidote and I just want to thank you. I’ll be showing it on the community TV stations and presenting it as much as possible because it answers that question. Thank you, very much.
[Chuck Smith]: Yes, it addresses that gap.
[Tom]: Yeah, hi everybody and Chuck I too want to thank you. I have what is called the 9/11 DVD project and I bought a duplicator to make DVDs and give them away. I used to sell them for what I cost me but now I just give them away. Would it be OK for me to download or get a copy of your work and give it away – make my own duplicated copies and pass them out.
[Chuck Smith]: I’m in favor of anybody giving them away. I’ve given up two years of my life. I’d like you people that give them away to give up whatever minor cost of making them.
[Zander]: I donated the $60 requested by Colorado Public Television. Do you know if the version I will be getting? Will it be the full version or the version that was played on PBS.
[Chuck Smith]: Full version.
[Zander continues] I’m looking forward to that. Excellent work, it was just an incredible film. I’d like to put a bug in your ear also to encourage you to consider some different 9/11 Truth topics. I know that there is a movie “hypothesis” that covered Steven Jones, but some further look into the nanothermite and that group – possibly some interviews with some of these people. We all have short lives to live.
[Chuck Smith]: Are you asking me to put out more information out about the nanothermite from the people that found it – is that what you are asking?
[Zander – Continues] Yes, that is what I’m asking. That is a really valid topic and I’m really impressed with you did good job with it.
[Chuck Smith]: The truth of the matter is that I’ve really already done it. I’ve got it. In fact, I was just looking at it last night and said, “OK, it time to throw this scientific bone out there.” It’s put together for the most part. It’s basically the people who found the nanothermite talking about their experience. Its will be coming out. I’m thinking of calling it something like the Experts Speak Out Chronicles or something and then call it “Nanothermite.” It will be free, by the way.
[Moderator] Talk about quick results! You’ve created a extremely watchable film. The most watchable of all the 9/11 films I’ve ever seen. Kudos to you and I hope that you will continue to make the valuable contributions that you are making to the 9/11 truth movement.
[Chuck Smith] I can’t stop. I can’t stand the lies. I was in the Air Force and had to agree “to protect our country against all enemies foreign and domestic.” I’m just naive enough to take that seriously. Call me a fool—but it gives me something to do in my old age.
September 11, 2001, marked one of the most tragic days in American history. Fifteen years later, the events of that day continue to have a visceral and even traumatic impact on many Americans. Additionally, millions of Americans and citizens around the world question the official account of that day. Why? Demolition of Truth – Psychologists Speak Out is a documentary film filled with factual testimony from highly credentialed scientists, engineers, and military experts, including Dr. Robert Bowman, Dr. Lynn Margulis, Major General Albert Stubblebine, Dr. Neils Harrit, and many more. This expert testimony is woven with analyses by social scientists like David Ray Griffin, Fran Shure, Robert Griffin, Marti and Robert Hopper, Dorothy Lorig, Prof. William Woodward, Danielle Duperret and John Freedom who examine the psychological impact of 9/11 and the phenomena that have kept us blinded to truths too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves. The film concludes with steps we can take, individually and collectively, toward healing. An epilogue by actor Ed Asner summarizes these analyses, emphasizing the role played by mainstream media that, lamentably, parrot their government sources rather than question them.
